Bring Full Fibre Broadband
to Abbeygate Court, March

Our road has been overlooked in every fibre rollout for over a decade. Residents are struggling with speeds that fail the demands of modern life — home working, online education, video calls, gaming, and streaming. This petition calls on Openreach, our local council, and our MP to prioritise Abbeygate Court for an upgrade to Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) infrastructure.

Petition started by Matthew Haworth, resident of Abbeygate Court since 2014.

Not only is the copper line broadband next to useless, but Abbeygate Court is also in a black spot for mobile broadband coverage. 4G is very intermittent and 5G (EE) hasn’t worked properly since last September due to a tree near the Police station… 100% true!

Abbeygate Court in March, Cambridgeshire has been excluded from multiple broadband upgrades with properties on the adjacent High Street having access to high speed full-fibre and cable broadband (Virgin Media). The reason provided for our exclusion from the modern world is that the road is privately owned. The copper line internet currently available is nearly 30-year-old technology and no longer fit for purpose. The residents should not be penalised for living on a private road or in social housing.
